How to cope with low self esteem & self worth

JUNE 24, 2019 | BY MARK ANDERSON | PHOTOGRAPHY, MUSIC

Low self-esteem doesn’t mean you lack value.

It often means you learned to survive by shrinking yourself.

Here’s how to begin rebuilding your sense of worth — gently, honestly, and deeply:

💛 1. Separate Your Worth from Your Past

What happened to you does not define who you are.

Your mistakes, experiences, or others’ opinions are not your value.

? Your worth was never lost — only forgotten.

💛 2. Notice How You Speak to Yourself

The inner voice you hear today was often learned in the past.

Begin replacing criticism with curiosity and compassion.

Try this instead:

?? “I’m struggling” instead of “I’m failing.”

💛 3. Stop Waiting to Feel “Enough”

You don’t become worthy after healing, achieving, or fixing yourself.

You are worthy right now, exactly where you are.

? Healing is not a requirement for self-worth.

💛 4. Set Boundaries Without Guilt

Saying no does not make you selfish.

It means you are protecting your energy and self-respect.

Healthy boundaries are a form of self-love.

💛 5. Reconnect With Your Body

Low self-esteem often disconnects us from our body.

Gentle movement, breath, and rest help rebuild safety within.

? Your body is not the enemy — it’s your home.

💛 6. Practice Self-Validation

Stop waiting for others to see your value before you do.

Acknowledge your effort, growth, and resilience.

You survived. You are still here. That matters.

💛 7. Surround Yourself With Safe People

Self-worth grows in environments where you feel respected and seen.

Distance yourself from what constantly makes you feel small.

? You deserve safe connections.

🌱 DAILY REMINDERS

I am enough as I am
My worth is not up for debate
I deserve respect, including from myself
Healing is allowed to be slow

🤍 FINAL NOTE

Low self-esteem is not a flaw — it’s a wound.

And wounds can heal with patience, support, and compassion.

You are worthy of love, rest, and kindness — especially from yourself.
